Aria & Cielo, meaning air and sky in Italian, serve as the primary inspiration for our interpretation at the Salone Del Mobili Shanghai chapter. Once again, our lighting design collection takes center stage in this special invitation exhibition. This time, we are also collaborating with one of the world's most prominent design magazines, IDEAT, originally from Paris and now with an Asia-based department in China.

The pavilion space allocated to us is quite long and rather narrow, with a central passage for visitor access. We are limited in the type of structure we can use, as it must be easily installed and dismantled. To address this, we utilized digital printing of sky images on structural elements of the pavilion,

Mirror plastic paper, each cut to the same, 6m x 50cm length, is suspended over the entire length of the exhibition area, approximately 20 meters long. This approach was chosen because the movement of visitors along the main access passage creates air currents that cause the reflective rib cage-like structure to move, distorting the reflections of the sky elements and the surrounding scenery.

As the main theme of our project revolves around air and sky, we have employed the dynamic movements of human beings and the economical placement of reflective paper to create a passage that induces constant morphing and transformation of reflected imagery within all the exhibited lighting elements.

As with many of our designs, we have always been fascinated by movement and change, as life is constantly evolving. In this installation, we aim to "reflect" this concept—no pun intended—into the aesthetic of the entire spatial experience.
