WE IMPACT Center Shanghai
Date
2013
Location
Beijing, China
We were commissioned by the sustainability research hub, We-Impact, based in Canada, to conceptualize a revolutionary headquarters primarily focused on research and commercial activities related to sustainable developments globally. The office's fundamental geometry is inspired by a jackfruit, which has been elegantly tapered at the top section of the building, creating an organic event space adorned with parametric solar panels.
The entire cladding of the external walls is constructed from recycled plastic PVC panels, corrugated to enhance stability. We envisioned the building's interior to be devoid of zoning and partitions, fostering a vast co-working space where ideas and innovations can cross-pollinate, particularly those addressing the planet's well-being.
Sleeping chambers and shower cubicles utilizing recycled rainwater will also be integrated into the building, transforming this hub into a living entity with abundant plantations within. We are advocating for a living, breathing structure that nurtures our relationship with the natural environment.
