Working to explore pushing the boundary of time and art with Flli Domeniconi, an Italian designer clock maker since 1968, In this project, we are pushing the boundaries of clock design into elements of product design that are not immediately obvious to the user. Drawing inspiration from a flowering cactus, we envision three mechanical arms indicating hours, minutes, and seconds, rotating horizontally. Each arm features a small LED spotlight that illuminates the ceiling, while the centre of the structure houses a mobile Phone charger and speaker dock.
When placed within an interior space, this installation appears as a sculpture with rotational elements. However, if there is a mirror ceiling above, the indication of hours, minutes, and seconds can be discerned through the rotation of the arms. We are exploring the element of surprise, where a standalone product resembles a unique phone charger and speaker system, yet when viewed from above, it functions as an abstract clock.
This project questions the conventional understanding of time, suggesting that we might need to move beyond the accuracy of time to explore the potential of movements, which are directly related to the passage of time in one's life while existing on our planet.
